App Catalog

The App Catalog is a special SharePoint site collection, one per Microsoft 365 tenant, where custom packages (.sppkg) and add-ins are uploaded before anyone in the organisation can use them. Nothing custom reaches a SharePoint page without passing through it.

You reach it from the SharePoint admin center under More features → Apps. A tenant that has only ever used out-of-the-box SharePoint usually does not have one yet — that is normal, not a misconfiguration, and a SharePoint administrator creates it in a couple of minutes.

Its real job is governance rather than storage: it is the single place that answers what custom code runs in your tenant, who put it there and when.
